PM1743 SSD has the latest PCIe 5.0 interface and Samsung's advanced 6th generation V-NAND flash technology.
PCIe 5.0 can provide 32GT (gigabit transfer) bandwidth per second, which is 2 times that of PCIe 4.0. The PM1743 uses a controller designed for the latest PCIe standard to provide excellent read and write speeds to meet the rapidly evolving performance requirements of the data center.
Samsung PM1743 has a sequential read speed of up to 13000 MB/s and a random read speed of 2500K input/output operations (IOPS) per second, which is 1.7 times and 1.9 times faster than previous products based on PCIe 4.0. In addition, the write speed has also been significantly improved, with a continuous write speed of 6600 MB/s and a random write speed of 250K IOPS, respectively increasing by 1.7 times and 1.9 times. Significantly improved data transfer performance allows enterprise server manufacturers using the PM1743 to enjoy a better performance experience than ever before. In addition, this new SSD has higher energy efficiency, reaching 608 MB/s per watt, which is about 30% higher than the previous generation. This is expected to significantly reduce server and data center operating costs, while also helping to reduce the carbon footprint. Samsung PM1743 has a variety of capacities from 1.92TB to 15.36TB, can provide the traditional 2.5-inch form factor, and 3-inch EDSFF, an increasingly popular solid-state drive form factor designed for the next generation of enterprise servers and data centers. Customers using 7.5mm EDSFF SSDs can double the system storage density compared to the 15mm 2.5 inch format. Coupled with excellent signal integrity and thermal efficiency, EDSFF is an ideal choice for most PCIe 5.0 enterprise solutions. In addition, Samsung PM1743, as a PCIe 5.0 solid state drive that supports dual ports, can ensure the stability and high availability of the server even if one port connection fails. Samsung is currently providing samples of the PM1743 to global chipset and server manufacturers for subsequent joint system development. Samsung expects to begin mass production of the PM1743 from March 2022, continuing to work with global chipset and system manufacturers to build a robust ecosystem for the new PCIe 5.0.
